Edna Osborne, with her husband Ernie II, first opened up the doors of their 5 & 10 Store in Wasaga Beach in 1945. The rest, as they say, is history. After the 5&10, their son Ernie III, along with his wife Elaine, opened up Osborne's Castle of Gifts which had great items like Miniatures and a year-round Christmas corner. The Country Store opened soon after, which sold mocassins, souvenirs, Beanie Babies, and their infamous ice cream and frozen yogurt. Next door opened Beachwood, which was run by Ernie and Elaine's son and his wife, Ernie IV and Kathy. Eventually, Ernie III and Elaine retired, and the Country Store and Castle of Gifts merged into one. Today The Jewel Box, owned by Ernie IV and Kathy, holds parts of all of the past stores, plus new and exciting items and services to meet the demands of our ever-growing community.
